Daniel Levy transfer decision ‘vindicated’ after Harry Kane reveal – Tottenham idol

Paul Robinson has applauded Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for keeping Harry Kane at the club despite major pressure last summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed Levy’s decision has been “vindicated” with Kane, 28, happy and thriving in north London.

Kane’s future was the subject of great speculation last summer with Man City seeing several bids for the striker turned down by Spurs.

Speaking to the Evening Standard (17 May), the England captain hinted to staying at the club when he said he “looks forward to next season with a great manager [Antonio Conte].”

Kane said he is “really enjoying” working under Conte and is “a big fan” of the Italian manager.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Levy’s decision to dig his heels in over Kane was vindicated, Robinson said: “It was a deal that was never going to happen unless Man City met the figure Daniel wanted.

“Daniel is criticised a lot but the root of all of his decisions is the football club. I think he would have sold Kane if a certain figure was offered. He didn’t sanction a deal because it wasn’t right for the football club.

“Kane looks happy at Spurs right now so Daniel’s decision looks to be vindicated.

“Man City have [Erling] Haaland coming in now so their interest in Kane is dead in the water.

“Man United are in a worse position than Spurs right now and Spurs don’y do business with Chelsea.”
