‘Darwin Nunez is gone’ – Liverpool fans stunned by Arne Slot’s confession
Liverpool striker Darin Nunez came under fire recently for missing an open goal against Aston Villa during their draw on 19 February, and the pressure has continued to mount.
Arne Slot opted not to use the striker in any capacity during their 2-0 win against Man City on Sunday (23 February) as they went 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Slot was questioned about the 25-year-old during his pre-Newcastle match press conference, and he had an honest admission about Nunez.
He said, “I wasn’t only hard on him, but for the second time in a row I wasn’t happy with his work effort, against Wolves and against Villa.
“I can’t accept if a player doesn’t give everything, that is clear. I can accept it once, but twice was a bit too much, that’s why I addressed it.”
It will now remain to be seen if he will feature against the Magpies on Wednesday (26 February).

Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move away from Anfield
Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider on 7 January that Liverpool would listen to offers for Nunez during the most recent window.
Nunez was ultimately not sold, but he isn’t believed to be part of Slot’s long-term plans at the football club.

That has led to an expectation that he will be moved on, with Football Insider reporting that Liverpool want to use him as part of a negotiation to sign Alexander Isak.

Liverpool fans believe Darwin Nunez will be sold
Supporters now believe it’s simply a matter of time before the Uruguay international is sold with some telling the board to “get Nunez out of the club.”
