Date set for Elliott return after ‘huge’ Liverpool footage emerges – pundit

Harvey Elliott is in line to return to first team action for Liverpool on 6 February.

That is the view of ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 18-year-old’s injury return.

Elliott has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the Reds’ 3-0 win at Leeds United in mid-September.

As shown by club media last night (18 January), the teenage midfielder returned to first-team training ahead of Thursday’s trip to Arsenal.

The ex-Blackburn loanee impressed in the opening stages of the season after starting three of Liverpool’s opening four Premier League games.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs when Elliott could feasibly return to action, Robinson said:

“It won’t be long now before we see Elliott back in a Liverpool shirt. It will be a week, two weeks.

“Players at that level are so physically fit. The way they are looked after and look after themselves makes their recoveries very short. I think he’ll be back by the end of next week.

“Elliott wouldn’t be back in full training if he wasn’t good to go. The next couple of weeks will be about getting his sharpness up.

“To have Elliott coming back at this stage of the season, it’s huge. He’s a top player.

“I can’t see anyone but City winning the title this season but if Liverpool have any chance they need all of their players back.”

Liverpool

Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday after their League Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal.

However, their next fixture after that is not until 6 February against Cardiff City in the FA Cup because of the international break.
