Dave King must concentrate on his own mess rather than mouthing off about Celtic
COMMENT
Rangers chairman Dave King, in an attempt to get his name in the press – which has worked – has made a rather bizarre claim about Celtic.
The Gers supremo has claimed, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, that as soon as the Gers win their first league title the Hoops will fold like ‘a park of cards’.
King’s comments are, quite frankly, laughable. He seems to think that it’s still the 1990s, when the Gers ruled Scottish football and the Hoops were an irrelevance.
Those days are long gone, and King should concentrate on his team trying to finish runners-up in the league rather than attempting to challenge a Hoops side who are streets ahead of them and show no signs of slowing down.
The days of the Hoops resting on their laurels and being complacent at the top of the league are gone, and they seem like they want to become a major force in European football.
Once King manages to get a manager who is able to put in some kind of title challenge, then he can start making pronouncements on their bitter rivals.
But for now, it is just about getting publicity, and it has worked, as King has got in the papers and all over the internet. The Old Firm continues to provide all the talk in Scottish football, and it looks like this will continue all summer long.
In other Celtic news, Brendan Rodgers has claimed that the Hoops won’t go on a summer singing spree
