David Gold details how West Ham could secure permanent deal for 30-year-old, fans play a role
By Danny Wright
West Ham co-owner David Gold has suggested that the supporters could have a big part in turning Joe Hart’s loan stay at the London Stadium into a permanent one.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper has recently became the Hammers’ second summer signing after he agreed to a year-long temporary switch to the east London club.
Hart has now left Manchester City on loan for the past two seasons, meaning that he doesn’t seem to have a future there under the management of Pep Guardiola.
However Gold, 80, has hinted that West Ham could be lining up an offer to make his escape from his Etihad hell permanent, but there are a few conditions that must be met first.
“If the fans take to him, and I’m sure they will, and he’s England’s number one and if a deal can be struck, then Joe could be made permanent,” he said on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning when asked by a supporter if there’s an option to make Hart’s move permanent.
Hart has become West Ham’s second signing of the summer as he joins his former Man City team-mate Pablo Zabaleta in moving to the London Stadium.
Slaven Bilic looks as though he might have some big decisions to make about his goalkeeping options, as last season saw him switch between Adrian and Darren Randolph in his starting line-up as a true No 1 failed to emerge.
Adrian has already made it clear that he is annoyed by David Sullivan’s claims about Hart being the “best goalkeeper” he has ever worked with after the Mirror reported that Newcastle are in pursuit of the Spaniard.
In other West Ham news, this 28-year-old has said goodbye to his team-mates ahead of a club record move to the London Stadium.
