David Gold provides his verdict on West Ham style of play

David Gold has stated on Twitter that once the “fear” goes out of West Ham then the “flair” will return to the side following their 1-0 win over Hull.

The Hammers were fortunate to pick up three points against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the London Stadium, thanks to a late Mark Noble penalty.

Mike Phelan’s side dominated the majority of the game, hitting the woodwork on three occasions, but still couldn’t find the back of the net.

But despite a lacklustre display from Slaven Bilic’s men, they were awarded a controversial penalty when Michail Antonio was adjudged to have been brought down in the penalty area.

As a result captain Noble stepped up and calmly netted his second goal of the week to help his side secure back-to-back wins.

Here is a supporter criticising the Irons style of play, with club chairman Gold issuing a response on his personal Twitter account.

The win helps West Ham move up to 13th place in the Premier League table where they are now on 19 points from 17 games.

Additionally, they have picked up seven points in a week, having recorded a point at Anfield last weekend, three points at home to Burnley in midweek and now another valuable win against Hull.

Bilic will now have to plan for a Boxing Day trip to Wales where they take on league strugglers Swansea, before taking on league champions Leicester five days later.

In other West Ham news, supporters on Twitter provided mixed views on Mark Noble’s performance.
