David Seaman: This 29-year-old would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal

David Seaman believes Joe Hart would be a very good signing for Arsenal, if they’re looking for someone to replace Petr Cech as the Gunners number one.

The Mail claim that Arsenal are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer as they plan to demote current number one Cech to the position of back-up goalkeeper.

The former Arsenal stopper told Alan Brazil’s Breakfast show on talkSPORT that if the Gunners do press ahead with their reported plans of axing Cech, then Hart must be signed as a replacement.

“I think a lot of clubs will go for Joe because he is a quality goalkeeper and it was a massive shock in the summer when he left Manchester City,” said Seaman.

“If the situation arises where Arsenal are looking for a goalkeeper then I can’t see a better replacement than Joe Hart.”

Currently on loan at Serie A side Torino, it is believed that Pep Guardiola is willing to listen to offers for Hart of around £15million.

However, manager Arsene Wenger revealed on Thursday that a move for the former Shrewsbury Town stopper is not on the cards as Arsenal have “no interest” in Hart.

Nevertheless, former goalkeeper Seaman who won 75 England caps and made 568 league and cup appearances for the Gunners, is adamant that it would represent a good bit of business.

Football Insider verdict:

Hart is more than proven at Premier League level with top-flight titles in 2011-12 and 2013-14 and that winning mentality could be brought to the Emirates Stadium and help Wenger’s side end their long-awaited search of a Premier League winners’ medal which now stretches back to 2003-04. The 68-time England international has continued his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world with some fantastic saves and performances in Serie A, proving that he was wrong to be ostracised by Guardiola in the summer. Bringing him to the Emirates would see an improvement on current number one Cech, as well as providing the correct mindset that would rub off on the rest of the Arsenal squad.
