Davis tipped to leave Aston Villa in January after confirmed news – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Cameron Archer’s new Aston Villa contract may open the door for Keinan Davis to leave on loan in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer suggested Archer will now be given an opportunity in the first team under Steven Gerrard.

The club confirmed last Friday (December 10) the 20-year-old had committed his future to Villa Park until the summer of 2025.

The young striker has scored four goals in six games for the senior side this term, including three Premier League substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, Davis suffered a knee injury in pre-season and has managed just one top-flight appearance this season – the 1-0 defeat to Southampton last month (5 November) that proved to be Dean Smith’s final game in charge.

Football Insider revealed last week (9 December) Smith’s new club Norwich City are in pole position to sign the 23-year-old in January who could be available for between £2million and 4million.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph’s John Percy reported earlier this week (13 December) he is also a loan target of Nottingham Forest.

“It just comes down to game time,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Keinan Davis hasn’t played a lot of football over the past few years and he needs to go out and play games. Gerrard will know that.

“I’m sure Keinan Davis is that one will go out on loan, get some games and come back.

“Cameron Archer has done well when he’s been given a chance and has been rewarded with a deserved new contract. I’m sure he’ll be integrated into the first team and given an opportunity by Gerrard.”

In other news, the ‘next Jack Grealish’ is already at Aston Villa as an ‘amazing’ claim is dropped.
