Declan Rice and Oscar Bobb react to Tijjani Reijnders’ Man City message pre-showdown

Tijjani Reijnders posted a determined message that earned reactions from across the Premier League as Man City gear up for their Club World Cup campaign.

Man City have already been busy in the transfer market, undergoing a summer rebuild with several new signings confirmed before the Club World Cup registration deadline.

Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Reijnders have all joined Man City and travelled with the squad as they prepare for the tournament.

The Dutchman arrives off the back of a standout season in Italy, where he registered 20 goal contributions. With Kevin De Bruyne’s departure confirmed, the midfielder is expected to step up and bring creativity to City’s midfield.

Now, he has provided fans with an encouraging update as the squad continue their training ahead of the competition.

Premier League stars react as Tijjani Reijnders shares Club World Cup training update

The 26-year-old gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at City’s training sessions in the US, posting photos from the pitch on Instagram.

He captioned the post: “First days” alongside an American flag emoji.

A number of his new teammates were quick to respond, with Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake liking the post. The support extended beyond the City squad, as Premier League rivals Declan Rice, Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee also reacted to the update.

Man City’s long-standing interest in Reijnders was reported by Football Insider back in December. Although the Dutch midfielder later signed a new deal, City didn’t lose sight of their target and have now secured his signature for a reported fee of around £46.5 million.

Man City to make Oscar Bobb decision amid loan interest

Despite appearing upbeat on social media, Bobb’s future at Manchester City remains unclear heading into the new season.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man City are open to loan offers for Bobb as he looks to return to full fitness following a long injury lay-off.

The Norwegian made just three Premier League appearances last season, but then fractured his leg in the final week of pre-season, a setback that ruled him out for the majority of the 2024/25 campaign.

With Cherki joining from Lyon, competition for places has intensified, and City are now believed to be keen for Bobb to gain regular minutes elsewhere to aid his development.
