Declan Rice reacts to Myles Lewis-Skelly announcement at Arsenal
Declan Rice has reacted to the latest announcement regarding young star Myles Lewis-Skelly emerging at Arsenal.
The 18-year-old experienced a rollercoaster breakthrough season at the Emirates Stadium, notching two goal contributions while also being sent off on multiple occasions.
After red cards against Wolves and West Ham, Lewis-Skelly possibly avoided a further sending-off against PSG, but Gunners fans have quickly fallen in love with the attacking full-back.
There has been plenty of talk around the academy product’s future in North London, with a new update on Lewis-Skelly’s contract situation emerging this summer.
Now, the Gunners have shared a brand-new post about the youngster, and while it may not be the announcement fans have been hoping for, it highlights just how good a season it was for him.

Myles Lewis-Skelly nominated for award at Arsenal
Taking to Instagram (19 June), the official club account wrote: “A couple of nominations for two of our own. Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are in the running for PFA Young Player of the Year.”
The post gained a like from Rice, who is clearly proud of his teammate’s breakout season.
Mikel Arteta on thin ice ahead of 2025/26 campaign
Football Insider verdict
Mikel Arteta‘s ability to develop and bring through young and exciting talents to the first-team squad has been commendable, but it is unlikely to save him from future pressure next season.
After being knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by PSG, Arsenal fans were ready to part ways with Arteta, with the Gunners going without silverware yet again since the 2019/20 campaign.
The 43-year-old only has one FA Cup title under his belt since being appointed manager in 2019, and supporters are beginning to lose patience as teams around them continue to flourish.

The main issue in recent seasons has been the squad lacking a clear centre-forward figure, with Mikel Merino playing through the middle for much of the 2024/25 season.
Injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus left the Gunners high and dry, but after failing to bring someone in during the winter transfer window, the club only had themselves to blame.
It has emerged that Sporting CP’s Vitkor Gyokeres expects to join Arsenal this summer, but with no move made yet, frustrated voices in North London only continue to get louder.
