Diego Carlos: Pundit ‘wowed’ as Aston Villa set to make ‘massive’ offer for Sevilla star
Diego Carlos could be the key to Aston Villa finding consistent form in the Premier League next season.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a possible “massive” fee for the defender.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (25 May), Aston Villa are exploring the possibility of signing Sevilla star Carlos, 29, this summer.

Aston Villa have already been active in the transfer market ahead of next season, turning Philippe Coutinho’s loan spell into a permanent move and signing French midfielder Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer.
Kenny claims Villa need to tighten up at the back and insists Carlos could be the answer.
“Wow, they aren’t stopping with the spending are they?” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They need to tighten up as well so it is no surprise to me if they are looking to sign a centre-back.
“They were inconsistent last season and if they want to get to where they want to be then this guy is who they should be signing.
“I remember Newcastle wanting to sign him in January so he is clearly going to cost a decent fee.
“But Villa can pay those massive fees now, they just can’t afford to waste any more money.
“I’m sure they will do the right deal if they want this guy but they need to make sure he is right for them.”

Villa finished 14th in the 2021-22 Premier League.
It was a turbulent season for the club as Dean Smith was sacked and replaced by Steven Gerrard in November.
In other news, Aston Villa want an A-list striker and are willing to sell Danny Ings to fund the deal.
