Diogo Jota shares promise to Liverpool fans after they destroy him, Darwin Nunez reacts
Diogo Jota came under fire for his performance in the Carabao Cup final and he felt the need to address the disappointment from Liverpool fans in a social media message.
Liverpool suffered a damning 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at Wembley, compounding a miserable week for Arne Slot’s side.
Dan Burn put his boyhood club in front, and Alexander Isak, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, doubled the lead in the second half, just moments after having a goal ruled out.
Federico Chiesa pulled one back late on, but it wasn’t enough, as the Reds waved goodbye to two trophies in the space of just a few days, having already crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of PSG.
Jota was heavily criticised by Liverpool fans for his underwhelming display, with some even calling for him to be sold. However, he responded to the backlash with a message to the supporters following the defeat.

Liverpool face Diogo Jota decision amid exit rumours and inconsistent form
Jota addressed Liverpool fans after the defeat, posting on Instagram: “Not good enough today! A very disappointing week for everyone that supports Liverpool… We will be back soon to fight for the league.”
His teammates, including Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez, both of whom came on as substitutes, showed their support by reacting to the post.
Liverpool fans have wanted Jota to be sold after his inconsistent performances this season, as well as his constant injury worries.
Their calls may be answered, as Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are considering a move for Jota this summer to strengthen their attacking options.
Despite the speculation, the Portuguese has played an important role under Slot, often preferred in the central forward role over Nunez. So far this season, he has registered eight goals and three assists in 1,481 minutes of football.
Liverpool set for overhaul as summer rebuild looms under Arne Slot

Liverpool are expected to undergo a major squad rebuild this summer, with Jota and Nunez both linked with potential exits. If either departs, reinforcing the attack will likely be a priority.
The Reds have already been linked with a number of attacking options, including Newcastle’s Isak—who once again proved his quality against them in the Carabao Cup final. A clinical striker of his calibre is exactly what Liverpool appear to be missing.
Whether Jota remains at Anfield or moves on remains to be seen, but for now, he and his teammates must shift their focus back to the Premier League title race after a difficult week of cup disappointments.
