Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk respond exit-linked Joe Gomez’s Liverpool message

Liverpool stars Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk responded to a message from teammate Joe Gomez ahead of their clash with Arsenal.

The Reds cruised their way to only the second ever Premier League title this season under the stewardship of Arne Slot.

Having spent a week celebrating their success, Liverpool were treated to a humbling 3-1 loss at the hands of Chelsea, marking only their third defeat in the league this season.

Although the title is wrapped up, Slot will be keen to keep his players focused as they look to claim their first Premier League victory over Arsenal since 2022, when the Gunners travel to Anfield on Sunday (11 May).

Having spent the majority of the season trailing Liverpool, a loss to the Reds will jeopardise the North London side’s chances of finishing second.

Joe Gomez sends ‘resilience’ message to Liverpool fans

Ahead of the clash with Mikel Arteta’s side, Gomez took to Instagram to share two images of himself in training, captioned: “Take pride in resilience”.

Van Dijk responded with a love-heart emoji, whilst Jota replied with a smiling emoji, with both players showing their support for the England international.

Gomez has endured several major injuries in recent seasons and has been limited to just six Premier League starts this season.

Joe Gomez may look to leave Liverpool this summer

Football Insider Verdict

Gomez was a target for Newcastle and Aston Villa last summer, but deals with both sides failed to materialise.

The defender is Liverpool’s longest-standing first-team player, having joined the club from Charlton in the 2015/16 season.

However, the 27-year-old has found himself sliding further and further down the pecking order in recent seasons, and with Ibrahima Konate, Van Dijk and Jarell Quansah ahead of him, the England international may look to leave Anfield in the coming transfer window.

Football Insider exclusively revealed Gomez had informed Liverpool he wanted to leave if his asking price was met last summer.

With first team football proving hard to come by, and a World Cup on the horizon, finding a new home may appeal to the ex-Charlton man once again.
