Djed Spence in advanced talks over £7m Tottenham move – sources
Tottenham defender Djed Spence is in advanced talks to join Genoa on a loan-to-buy deal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed last month Spurs are looking to offload the 23-year-old after he’s failed to make an impression in north London.
Sources say the Premier League side are now discussing a loan deal that will become permanent for £7million if certain triggers are hit, believed to be based around appearances and starts the right-back makes.
Spence is very keen to join Genoa permanently this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan with the Serie A club.
The former England youth international is under contract until 2027 after signing a five-year deal following his arrival from Middlesbrough in 2022.
Djed Spence could re-join Genoa after failed Tottenham move
Tottenham look set to make a loss on Spence after paying up to £20million including add-ons to secure his signature.
The right-back has only made six appearances for Spurs over the past two years after failing to convince north London chiefs he deserves more first-team opportunities.
Spence spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds United in the Championship before joining Genoa temporarily in January.
The Italian side are now in talks over another loan deal for the Englishman after he impressed in his 16 appearances last season.

But a permanent exit from Tottenham could still be on the cards for Spence, with an obligation to buy being discussed as part of the deal should he trigger certain appearance clauses.
The defender is unlikely to be the only player heading out the door at Spurs after Football Insider revealed last month he is one of nine senior players the club will listen to offers for this summer.
