Doku and Bobb send messages to Rayan Cherki after Man City latest

Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb were among those to react to Rayan Cherki after the midfielder spoke out on the latest developments at Man City.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have been busy in the summer transfer window, as they look to bounce back from what was a well below-par 2024/25 campaign by their standards.

Cherki is one of those signed by Man City, with the attacking midfielder arriving from French side Lyon to help fill the void left by the departing Kevin De Bruyne.

Those are of course big boots for any player to fill, but the 21-year-old has already made a positive start as he attempts to do that.

Rayan Cherki reacts to Club World Cup progress

Cherki has already scored his first goal for Man City, with that strike coming in a 6-0 thrashing of Al-Ain at the Club World Cup, in their second group game of the competition.

That ensured Guardiola’s side had progressed to the knockout stages with a game to spare in their group, allowing him to once again rotate his squad.

As a result, Cherki was only used as a late substitute for Man City in their 5-2 win over Juventus on Thursday night (26 June).

Even so, taking to Instagram to reflect on that, the France international still appeared pleased with the outcome, writing: “3/3. Round of 16 at the Club World Cup.”

In response, Doku commented on that post with two heart-face emojis, while Bobb simply wrote “Cherki” alongside a series of flames.

Other Man City stars such as Rico Lewis, Rayan Ait Nouri, Vitor Reiss, Nathan Ake, Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush also liked the message from the 21-year-old.

Football Insider Verdict

Having swept through thir group so comfortably, the Citizens are now due to face Al Hilal in the Round of 16 next week.

Given their performances so far, they must surely feel they have the chance to go all the way in the tournament, having been the only club to win all three of their group games.

After such a frustrating 2024/25 campaign, that would be a useful way for Man City to get back on track and rebuild some confidence and momentum ahead of next season.

Indeed, with new signings such as Cherki seemingly settling into the side well, this could make for a very productive summer all round for the club.
