Dominik Szoboszlai reacts excitedly as Liverpool complete second summer signing

Dominik Szoboszlai reacted as Liverpool announced their second signing of the summer on social media.

The Hungarian midfielder joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2023 for a fee of £60million [Sky Sports].

Szoboszlai was impressive in his first season at Anfield, but really found his feet after Arne Slot arrived at Liverpool last campaign.

The Dutch manager moved the 24-year-old into the number 10 role and the midfielder registered 16 goal contributions, up from the 11 he managed in his first season in England.

Liverpool remain confident of signing Florian Wirtz, despite having a second bid rejected for the German playmaker, Pete O’Rourke revealed exclusively to Football Insider.

But one question that will need answering is where Szoboszlai fits into Slot‘s tactical set-up next season, given the Bayer Leverkusen man’s best position is behind the striker.

However, Ian Darke warned Liverpool News that Wirtz’s signing alone would not be enough to guarantee the Reds back-to-back Premier League titles.

Liverpool confirm signing of young star Armin Pecsi

Having already completed a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen, Liverpool announced their second signing of the summer.

Armin Pecsi, a young and talented goalkeeper, will join the Reds from Puskas Akademia in Hungary, a team set up in honour of the Real Madrid legend, Ferenc Puskas.

Liverpool shared an image of the shot-stopper on Instagram, captioned: “We have agreed a deal to sign Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia”, and the post was liked by the 20-year-old’s international compatriot, Szoboszlai.

Liverpool make sweeping changes to goalkeeping options

Football Insider Verdict

In spite of having one of the world’s very best options in goal in the form of Alisson, the Reds have been busy making changes to Slot’s goalkeeping options for next season.

Caoimhin Kelleher has joined Brentford, as the Irish shot-stopper looks to become a first-team regular, having proven himself a capable deputy to the Brazilian last season.

The London-bound keeper will be replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed from Valencia last summer, but spent a year on loan with Carlos Corberan’s side.

Slightly further down the pecking order, Vitezslav Jaros has signed a new contract with the club, but will head out on loan to Sturm Graz for the 2025/26 season.

Alisson may be one of the top shot-stoppers in the world, but with a poor injury track record in recent seasons, his deputies can expect to get plenty of chances to impress next season.
