Done deal: 21-year-old signs after Liverpool agree terms

By Derek Smithson

Ryan Fulton has completed his move from Liverpool to Hamilton Academical, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Reds confirmed on their official Twitter account that the 21-year-old goalkeeper has moved to the Scottish club on a permanent basis.

The young shot stopper has signed a two-year contract with Hamilton and will now search for regular first-team action.

Fulton has ended his 10-year association with Liverpool following his Anfield exit after joining the club as a youngster.

The Scotland Under-21 international never made a senior appearance for the Reds, but was a regular in their youth teams.

Jurgen Klopp has decided to allow Fulton to leave on a permanent basis as he already has Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius and Danny Ward at his disposal.

Fulton has experienced loan spells at Chesterfield and Portsmouth in the past, something that should aid him at Hamilton.

Football Insider verdict:

Ryan Fulton was never likely to make a first-team breakthrough at Anfield and leaving Liverpool at this stage in his career is a smart move. He is still incredibly young for a goalkeeper and has a better chance of making a serious impression in the Scottish league with Hamilton. Meanwhile, Klopp needs to come out and make clear who will be his number one option ahead of next season. Mignolet was the first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of the season, while Karius also showed in glimpses his quality. The Merseyside club have also welcomed back Ward following his success with Huddersfield, where he helped them obtain promotion to the Premier League.

In other Liverpool transfer news, they have reached an agreement with a Championship club for Sheyi Ojo.
