Done deal: 21-year-old signs after Celtic agree terms

By Danny Wright

Celtic have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Olivier Nctcham from Manchester City.

The Hoops announced on their official Twitter account on Wednesday that the 21-year-old had penned a four-year deal with the Scottish treble winners and becomes their third summer signing following in the footsteps of Jonny Hayes and Kundai Benyu.

Ntcham joins the Glaswegians without ever earning a senior appearance during his spell at Man City, which saw him loaned out to Serie A outfit Genoa for the last two years.

The two-times France Under-21 international, who has previously played alongside Hoops star Moussa Dembele, featured inconsistently in the Italian top-flight last term with Genoa as he suffered with injuries, scoring three goals and supplying one assist in 20 league appearances.

He has represented France at every youth level between Under-16 and Under-21 and was also a consistent feature in the Man City development squad prior to his switch to Geona.

The midfielder will be joining up with a Celtic squad that certainly has no short-comings in that area of the pitch, with Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic and Scott Brown all showing their value to the squad last term.

Football Insider Verdict

Ntcham is certainly a good signing for Celtic and without doubt one to keep an eye on next season. However Brendan Rodgers already has a very strong core to his squad, especially in the centre of midfield, so Ntcham’s arrival may mean that one of the current Hoops stars might be on their way out. Armstrong has been very impressive and reports have linked him with a switch south of the border this summer. Ntcham plays a very similiar role to the ex-Dundee United ace as he can play behind a striker or in a more deep-lying area of the midfield. What ever Celtic decide to this with their dealings this summer, they can still be expected to romp home to the title next season.

In other Celtic news, Brown has warned that this key Hoops man could leave Parkhead for Real Madrid in the future – but it’s not Dembele.
