Done deal: Leeds midfielder seals exit after agreeing terms with Championship rivals

Leeds United have confirmed that midfielder and last season’s skipper Liam Bridcutt has moved to fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The club announced the 28-year-old’s transfer on their official website on Tuesday morning, and thanked him for his hard work while at the club.

The Elland Road side stated that the defensive midfielder has joined for an undisclosed fee, and his new club revealed that he had signed a three-year-deal with the Reds.

After penning his signature at the City Ground Bridcutt revealed that he was brought to add experience to the Forest squad.

He told Nottingham Forest’s website: “It feels good and I am happy to be here. I have spoken to the manager and had a good chat and he has brought me here to strengthen the squad and use my experience.”

Bridcutt also spoke about returning to the pitch for regular football.

“It is something that has been ticking on for the last week or so. It happened quite quickly and I am happy that it got done as quickly as possible,” he explained. “I needed to be back playing regular football and hopefully I can do that.”

The midfielder moved to Elland Road for a loan spell from Sunderland during the 2015-16 season and became a permanent addition at United last summer.
Despite being left out of the squad for a number of games throughout the season, Bridcutt sported the captain’s armband on several occasions throughout his 53 appearances for the Whites.
Bridcutt follows the departure of popular centre-forward Chris Wood, who was recently announced as Burnley’s newest signing and has moved to the Premier League club in a deal worth close to £15 million.
