Done deal: Rangers forward agree terms with top-flight club

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers forward Michael O’Halloran has completed a loan move move to Scottish Premiership rivals St. Johnstone, it has been confirmed on Saturday.

The official Gers website and Twitter account confirmed that the 26-year-old would be joining the top-flight outfit until January as manager Pedro Caixinha continues his squad overhaul.

The loan move sees O’Halloran return to the club on which he joined Rangers from after he impressed at the Saints between 2014 and 2016.

In his first spell at the club the right-winger managed a fine return of 17 goals and 17 assists in 91 appearances in total, which attracted the Gers into splashing £500,000 on him in February 2016.

However, he struggled to bring that form with him to Ibrox and since his move he has managed just three goals and six assists in 37 matches in total.

Last season OHalloran played just 24 matches in all competitions, returning five assists and he will now be looking to kickstart his career back up at St. Johnstone.

Football Insider verdict:

With three years remaining on his contract at Rangers O’Halloran is in a position where if he impresses at St. Johnstone then he can either return to the Gers team, or command a fee which would see the Glasgow giants recoup some of their initial £500,000 spend. O’Halloran himself will also believe that he can impress once more at McDiarmid Park and as he was unlikely to see much first team football in Caixinha’s new look Rangers team this dearly certainly suits all parties involved.
