Early Rangers team news: Key January signing a major doubt for game v Falkirk
Graeme Murty has confirmed that Jamie Murphy is a major doubt for the Scottish Cup game against Falkirk, and Lee Wallace and Declan John are definitely out.
Murphy hobbled off in the 4-1 win against St Johnstone and was angry at the tackles that were made on him by the opposition.
Talking to the BBC, Murty said that he was caught late on the foot by Matty Willock and wasn’t happy when he came off.
“Jamie was in a bit of pain as he came off. He’s a bit frustrated and angry with some of the tackles,” Murty said.
“We have to assess his foot and then go from there.”
It looks like that assessment is set to continue until Sunday, although it’s doubtful that Murty will risk him with the Old Firm derby against Celtic coming up the following weekend.
Murphy has made nine appearances for Rangers, impressing since his loan move from Brighton, with three goals and six assists.
Murty also delivered an update on Declan John but said the club was still waiting for news.
