‘Emotional scenes’ at Newcastle as significant January transfer exit nears
Newcastle United players and staff were left emotional ahead of an impending exit from the club, Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves has reported.
Miguel Almiron has been touted for a move away from the Magpies throughout the January transfer window, as the club look to raise funds amid PSR concerns.
It now appears as though his exit will indeed be completed, with the winger seemingly set for a return to MLS side Atlanta United (The Guardian).
That move will bring an end to a six-year stay at Newcastle for Almiron, having joined the club from Atlanta back in January 2019, and it seems as many around St James’ Park will be sad to see him go.
Providing an update on Almiron’s situation, Graves revealed there were “emotional scenes” as he bid farewell to players and staff, with the winger having been a popular figure within the Magpies’ setup.
Miguel Almiron exit will be sad for Newcastle
Football Insider Verdict
Admittedly things have not always worked out for Almiron during his time in England, leaving some supporters braced for his exit for some time.
Even so, after six years at Newcastle the is obviously going to have become a regular feature in the lives of those directly connected to the club.
As a result there is going to be some emotion for them, and Almiron himself, when saying goodbye after so long.
Of course, there have been times when the winger has made some major contributions and shown a great commitment to the club and it that sense he will undoubtedly be missed.

There will also be a question looking forward, of whether or not Newcastle will be able to replace him in the current January transfer window.
If they are unable to do that then it may lead to more concerns over whether Howe’s side will have the depth they need to continue pushing for a European place for the rest of the season.
In other news, Newcastle are readying a transfer offer with club officials spotted in Italy.
