‘Emre Belozoglu emerges as contender for Hull job’

Hull City are looking for a new manager following a disappointing season.

The Tigers preserved their Championship status by the skin of their teeth as they avoided relegation to League One on goal difference on the final day of the season.

But while they’ll be playing their football in the second tier once again next term, there’s set to be a new man at the helm following the sacking of Ruben Selles.

Just two weeks on from the end of the campaign, the search for a new boss is heating up.

Tigers target Turkish football legend

Hull are leaving no stone unturned as they look to find the best possible candidate for the manager’s job.

According to talkSPORT.com’s live blog (Friday May 16, 21:45), Emre Belozoglu is among the candidates being considered for the job.

The former Newcastle United midfielder is currently manager of Turkish side Antalyaspor who sit 12th in the Turkish Super League after 12 wins all season.

As well making 80 appearances for the Magpies, the ex-midfielder played for Galatasaray, Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Atletico Madrid as well as winning 101 caps for his native Turkey.

Now a manager, the 44-year-old will be keen to enjoy an equally successful career in the dugout.

It’s time for the Tigers to find their bite

Hull will be desperate to enjoy a much better campaign in the Championship next time around.

The Tigers finished seventh in the second tier in 2023/24 and had hoped for a successful campaign last time out, but ultimately found themselves embroiled in a relegation dogfight.

Sacking Liam Rosenior as manager, Selles was left without a number of players who had shone the previous year, most notably Jacob Greaves, Jaden Philogene and Liam Delap.

That trio moved on to life in the Premier League as a result of their form, leaving Hull in turmoil.

With Selles now gone, Hull are keen to rebuild and are one of five clubs interested in a move for Swansea star Jerry Yates.

Yates, 28, has spent this season on loan at Derby County and provided 14 goal contributions to help the Rams secure survival in the Championship, and has become a big fans’ favourite at Pride Park.
