Erling Haaland: Pundit issues bold claim after Sky’s £86m Man City reveal
Erling Haaland is a “Frankenstein striker” and will score 40 goals for Man City next season if he stays fit, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England defender backed Haaland to make an instant impact at the Etihad.
Man City confirmed last week (10 May) they had reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the 21-year-old.
Sky Sports reported the next day (11 May) that the total value of the deal, including the £51million transfer fee, agent fees, signing bonuses and other costs will come in at £85.5million.
Football Insider first reported earlier this month (7 May) that Man City had reached an agreement in principle for Haaland.
“As long as he’s fit, I think he will go straight in and make an impact instantly,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“City play 60 games a season across all competitions and if he plays in the majority of those he’ll score 40 goals.
“He’s an exceptional striker, he’s like a Frankenstein striker. If you were building the perfect striker from scratch, he’s not too far off it. He’s got height, pace, power, age, composure, drive, ability, headed goals, right-foot, left-foot, tap-ins, blasts, hold up play. I can’t find what he’s missing and needs to add to his game.”

Haaland ended his two-and-a-half year association with Borrusia Dortmund with 86 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions.
The Norway international found the net 62 times in 67 Bundesliga games and chipped in with a further 19 assists.
In other news, the door has opened for Man City to sign a midfielder and £50million could now seal the deal.
