‘Erling Haaland’s finished’ after ‘shocking’ Man City scenes in win vs Leeds

Erling Haaland has been slammed after failing to score in Manchester City’s win over Leeds United on Saturday.

Manchester City beat Leeds 3-2, with Phil Foden‘s stoppage-time winner preventing what would have been an embarrassing result for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola‘s team had been 2-0 ahead within 25 minutes, with Foden and Josko Gvardiol placing the home side into a commanding lead, but the visitors fought back and equalised through Lukas Nmecha.

Daniel Farke would have been encouraged by Leeds’ comeback, but the German is ultimately left to deal with his side’s fourth consecutive Premier League loss.

Ruben Dias was spotted screaming at Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the goalkeeper later criticised for feigning injury.

Erling Haaland registers rare blank vs Leeds United

Haaland has been in stunning form this season, netting 14 goals in just 13 appearances in the Premier League.

But against Leeds, nothing seemed to come off for the Norway international, who took just one shot in his 90 minutes on the pitch.

One fan on social media branded the striker “finished” after his display, while another said that both Jeremy Doku and Halaand were “shocking”.

Much of the anger towards the 25-year-old’s performance stemmed from Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players.

Over a million FPL managers used their triple captain, which triples the points earned by the player, on Haaland for the match.

One fan was damning on the striker, and claimed that he “not world class”, but just “an average goal scorer”.

Another called Haaland a “fraud”, comparing his points return to that of Brentford striker Igor Thiago, who scored a brace against Burnley.

Pep Guardiola involved in tense exchange with Haaland

Haaland has now failed to score in any of his previous three appearances for Manchester City – a long drought by the Norwegian’s standards.

Following the final whistle, Guardiola appeared to have words with the 25-year-old, with the pair seemingly having a heated discussion.

The Spaniard attempted to talk to the striker, who tried to walk away from his manager. Guardiola held onto him, and the pair continued to talk.

Haaland eventually did walk away without much more theatrics but the scene will prompt some theories about the pair’s relationship, given the forward’s form.
