Talks planned as Euro giants pursue expensive Tottenham flop – report

By Harvey Byrne

European giants Galatasary are planning to hold talks with Tottenham forward Vincent Janssen in a big to convince him to transfer to Turkey, according to a report.

Turkish publication Fanatik have claimed that Dutch coach and Galatasary boss Jan Olde Riekerink is targeting a move for the 22-year-old.

There is already a Dutch contingency at the Turkish giants with Wesley Sneijder, Garry Rodrigues and Nigel de Jong and it is believed that Riekerink will be in charge of trying to convince Janssen to make the move to Turkey.

The young Holland international completed a massive £17million move to Tottenham in the summer after starring for AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.

However, he has struggled to recapture his form in north London with a return of just three penalty goals in 23 encounters in all competitions.

Additionally, Janssen has missed Spurs’ last two league meetings against West Brom and Chelsea and doesn’t seem  to be getting a look in the team when Harry Kane is fit.

Much was expected of the forward when he originally joined the club, but with three years left on his contract still the player could be set for a swift exit.

Football Insider verdict:

Spurs should refrain from allowing Janssen to leave the club at this stage of the season. The January transfer window rockets the value of a number of players and it’s notoriously difficult to secure targets. Tottenham are in a fantastic position at the moment, but the sale of Janssen could have an undesired effect on the team. At 22, the player still has time to learn and grow into a decent Premier League striker. He was thrust into the deep end in his first few months at the club due to Harry Kane’s injury, which has seen early opinions formed on him. However, Tottenham should still bide their time on the player they spent £17million on in the summer.
