Everton backed to pull off ‘very important’ Ramsey signing after update from Italy – pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Aaron Ramsey could be a “very important” signing for Everton and Rafael Benitez in January.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old would bring some much-needed leadership and experience to the Toffees’ dressing room.
As reported by Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato last Wednesday (8 December), Everton have opened talks over a deal to sign Ramsey in January.

Juventus are reportedly willing to let the Wales international leave on a free transfer to get his wages off the books.
Whelan admitted he has some concerns over the midfielder’s fitness.
However, he insisted Ramsey could prove a valuable addition on and off the pitch,
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They’re looking at experience, looking at players who have played at the top level and players they can depend on.
“Right now, that’s very important, to bring into the club these leaders and these voices. Players that are going to improve the squad which, absolutely no doubt, he would do.
“It’s a really difficult one. Can I see Ramsey playing for Everton? Will he be fit for them?
“At the end of the day, Rafa Benitez is trying to build a squad of players that will be his own players.
“Players he can trust and be an influence on the team. Not just on the field but on the training ground and in the dressing room as well.”

Ramsey has started just once in five appearances for Juve this season.
The 71-cap international has played a total of 70 times for the Italian giants.
