Everton could replace Alex Iwobi with 'great signing' after source's reveal - pundit
Alex McLeish has suggested Everton could replace Alex Iwobi with Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Toffees’ 25-year-old is a “carbon copy” of the current Barcelona loanee.
As revealed by Football Insider (4 May), the door has opened for Everton to sign Traore, 26, after Barca decided not to trigger the optional purchase clause in his loan terms.
An Everton source told this site last month the Spain international is being monitored with a view to a summer move.
New director of football Kevin Thelwell is a big admirer of Traore, having lured him to Wolves in 2018.
McLeish suggested the prospective signing of Traore could see Iwobi out the exit door at Goodison Park.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It would probably pave the way for an exit or two. That is if he does go down that road.
“If Lampard feels Traore suits the club better than Iwobi, it’s difficult to see those two in the same team. They’re kind of carbon copies.
“Alex Iwobi maybe does a more defensive job.
“Traore was, for me, a revelation with Wolves. If he can replicate that kind of performance level then he’d be a great signing.”
Traore has played 15 times for Barcelona since rejoining the Catalan giants in January.
He is contracted at Molineux until the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, Iwobi has made 23 Premier League appearances this season, with two goals and one assist under his belt.
