Kieran Maguire: New update is ‘really good news’ for Everton as multiple deals lined up
Everton will be delighted with the strength of the sponsorship market given the situation they are in following Alsher Usmanow’s exit.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ financial woes.
They posted a £120.9million loss in their accounts, taking total losses to over £372m over the current three-year financial fair play assessment period.

Their plight has not been helped by the withdrawal of Usmanov, who pulled his annual circa £30m sponsorship input following Government sanctions.
But a study from the European Sponsorship Association published last Thursday (31 March) found that confidence in the industry remains high.
This will be a “comfort” to Everton as they seek multiple new deals to plug the gap left by Usmanov, insists Maguire.
“For a club like Everton, they are potentially going to have to broaden their search to find new deals,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“They were keen to stress that the relationship with Usmanov is suspended rather than terminated.
“But with Bramley Moore Dock on the horizon, they will be looking to further monetise the brand.
“This will provide some comfort for them in that regard, so it can only be really good news.”

Everton’s turnover for 2020-21 was a record-high £193m, but this was due in large part to deferred broadcast income from Covid-hit 2019-20.
The Toffees, who lost 2-1 at West Ham yesterday (3 April), are 17th in the Premier League standings with 10 games left to play.
