Everton make Ashley Young transfer decision – sources

David Moyes doesn’t see Ashley Young as part of Everton’s plans next season as the veteran’s contract winds down, sources have told Football Insider.

Young is one of eight players whose contracts at Goodison Park will expire at the end of the campaign, and with five loanees currently in line to return to parent clubs, it’s all change at Everton this summer.

Not every exit on Merseyside is cut and dried though, as Football Insider has previously revealed that both Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gueye could yet be offered new terms to continue next season.

However, sources have told Football Insider that Young is one of the players expected to move on from Everton at season’s end, as the 40-year-old has fallen out of favour since Moyes’ return to Goodison.

Of the 19 matches Young has started for Everton this term, just three have come under Moyes, and Football Insider sources have said the veteran utility man isn’t part of the Scot’s plans going forward.

Ashley Young to join Everton exodus

Young, Gueye and Doucoure are joined by Michael Keane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Joao Virginia, Asmir Begovic and Seamus Coleman as players who could all be on their way out of Everton at season’s end.

After Football Insider revealed last month that Keane is one of that number who will “definitely” leave Merseyside this June, Young looks set to join his former Manchester United team-mate as a free agent.

Sean Dyche pushed for Young to sign a one-year extension last summer, but with Moyes at the helm as Everton move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, another contract offer looks highly unlikely.

Everton contract decisions going down to the wire

Although Moyes has already made his mind up on the futures of Young and Keane, decisions are yet to be made on their team-mates’ contracts, as well as whether any of the Toffees’ five loanees will stay put.

Football Insider revealed in the wake of Leeds United’s promotion back to the Premier League that Jack Harrison isn’t likely to return next season, and that opens the door for Everton to sign him permanently.

Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, could yet sign to fresh terms by the Toffees after Football Insider revealed Everton are “pushing” for him to agree a new contract, and as next month’s deadline looms, it remains to be seen who will still be on board for the move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
