Everton should plot raid for this out-of-favour Tottenham man

COMMENT By Dominic Toner

Everton should consider a move for Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer in the summer.

Ronald Koeman currently has four senior centre-backs at his disposal in Ashley Williams, Mason Holgate, Ramiro Funes Mori and Phil Jagielka.

They have played an important role in the Merseyside club conceding just 30 goals in 29 Premier League games so far, which is the joint fourth-best in the division.

However, the Toffees have experimented with a back three at times this season and could do with some younger recruitments in the next transfer window.

Spurs ace Wimmer could be the perfect addition to the Everton squad and would bring a lot to the table.

The 24-year-old has fallen out-of-favour at the north London club this season and made just 10 senior appearances across all competitions.

He has been unable to force his way ahead of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier, which is certainly no disgrace.

Wimmer moved to White Hart Lane at the beginning of the 2015/16 campaign and did make 21 appearances in his first season.

The Austria international has proved he is a solid defender and it would be in his best interest to seek a move for regular football.

Everton are in desperate need of a defensive revamp in the summer and the youthful Wimmer could definitely force his way into Koeman’s starting line-up.

The centre-back just needs a run of games to pick up his form and the Toffees can be encouraged by his performances in a Spurs shirt to date.

In other Everton transfer news, the club have urged Ronald Koeman to signed a reported target.
