Everton told to complete £10m Adama Traore deal after source’s update – pundit

Noel Whelan has backed Everton to “take a risk” on £10million target Adama Traore – despite expecting interest to materialise from a number of rivals.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old is capable of winning games single-handedly.

Football Insider revealed last month (6 June) that Everton have registered an interest in signing Traore this summer – with director of football Kevin Thelwell a long-term admirer of his talents.

This site updated on Wednesday (13 July) to reveal that Wolves have placed a £10million asking price on the winger’s head – with the Spain international having less than 12 months left to run on his contract.

It is understood that the Barcelona youth product is hopeful of securing a move to a top-four side.

Whelan suggested his price tag will attract interest from a number of sides.

“It’ll be worth a gamble for many clubs, I’m sure,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s someone who can create something out of nothing, he’s very unpredictable.

“We’ve seen his end product get a lot better over the years. Before, he was someone who did all the hard work but couldn’t come up with something productive.

“Everton won’t be the only club interested if he’s on the market for £10million.

“It’s definitely worth taking that risk to bring him in. It’s not a lot of money at all for someone who can win games single-handedly and go out there and excite the fans.”

Frank Lampard’s side have completed just one summer signing thus far – the free transfer capture of James Tarkowski.

The Toffees, who finished 16th last term, start their 2022-23 campaign against Chelsea on 6 August.
