Everton transfer news: Richarlison to lead ‘massive’ exodus after ‘£85m’ offer – pundit

Richarlison will be departing Everton as part of a “massive turnover of players” this summer, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a mass exodus is “inevitable” due to the Toffees’ precarious financial situation.

Everton published their accounts for the 2020/21 season last week (29 March), revealing a £103million loss – which takes total losses over the last three years to £372.6m.

Star men Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been linked with summer exits as Frank Lampard’s side flirt with relegation to the Championship.

The Merseysiders sit just three points outside the drop zone with 10 games remaining.

When asked if Everton could lose other key men aside from Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison this summer, he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge: “Absolutely.

“When they’re losing that much money, and they’re in that much debt – it’s inevitable.

“If worst comes to worst and they go down, I think they’ll be losing a lot of players. It’ll have to be a complete rebuild.

“There’ll be a massive turnover of players next season whether they stay in the Premier League or not.

“Things have got to change at Everton, and they’ve got to change quickly.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Richarlison, who they turned down £85m from Barcelona for, will be off. They’d snap their hands off for that much now.”

Everton

Everton reportedly rebuffed an £85million approach from Barcelona for Richarlison in January 2020.

Six Toffees stars are out of contract this summer, including Jonjoe Kenny, Fabian Delph, and Cenk Tosun.
