Exclusive: Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan join race to sign Troy Parrott

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have joined a number of European and Premier League clubs in the race to sign Troy Parrott, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old scored a brace as AZ Alkmaar beat Sparta Prague 2-1 in the first leg of their Conference League round-of-16 tie, to take his tally to 26 in 38 games this season.

He was also the hero for the Republic of Ireland in November, when he scored two against Portugal and three against Hungary to send his side to the World Cup play-offs.

Those performances for club and country have placed him firmly on the radar of some of Europe’s elite clubs, while he also has multiple Premier League suitors.

Parrott is under contract at AZ until 2029, but there is a growing feeling he could be allowed to leave for the right price given the extent of the interest in him.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund join Troy Parrott race

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Premier League clubs are watching Parrott in the aftermath of his international heroics for the Republic of Ireland.

The likes of West Ham, Leeds United and even his former club Tottenham have been linked with moves, and European giants how now joined the race.

AC Milan are keen to add a new striker to their squad after missing out on Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have struggled to find a regular goalscorer and are keen to land a long-term replacement for 30-year-old Serhou Guirassy.

Parrott’s form both in the Eredivisie and on the international stage has made him a leading contender for both clubs, while many others are keeping a close eye on his displays.

Parrott’s future key to Fulham transfer plans

Among the multiple European clubs keeping tabs on Parrott are AZ’s Eredivisie rivals PSV, who are keen on the striker to replace Riccardo Pepi.

Football Insider revealed last month that PSV had an enquiry for Parrott rejected, and therefore pulled the plug on Pepi’s potential departure.

Fulham were pushing to bring the U.S.A international to Craven Cottage during the January transfer window, but ultimately missed out.

PSV had been keen to land a replacement before letting him go, with Parrott high on their list, but opted against allowing their current centre-forward to leave.
