Exclusive: Carlisle United make move to sign Rangers ace Alex Lowry

Carlisle United have enquired about a potential deal for Rangers ace Alex Lowry, sources have told Football Insider.

The League Two side are keen to take the 21-year-old south of the border before Friday’s (30 August) transfer deadline.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (6 August) that Lowry is one of three Rangers stars who have been told to find new clubs this summer.

Adam Devine and Ianis Hagi have also been told they are free to leave.

Lowry has not been a part of the first team at Ibrox so far in the 2024-25 campaign and has instead played with the B team.

He scored a brace from the left wing in a 3-2 win over Clyde FC in the Scottish Challenge Cup earlier this month (14 August).

League Two club make Lowry move with Rangers ready to sell

The attacking midfielder spent the first half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Hearts, who cut his spell at the club short earlier this year.

He notched one goal and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Edinburgh side.

The Rangers academy product then suffered a back injury which kept him out for the remainder of the season.

Lowry is under contract at Ibrox until the end of this season.

Rangers

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Monday (26 August) that Salford City have made an enquiry about signing Rangers defender Leon King, 20, on loan.

Carlisle have won one from three in their start to the League Two season after finishing bottom of League One last term.

In other news, Rangers fans stunned by “monumental” development.
