Exclusive: Celtic plot selling 24-yr-old who Hutton’s changed his mind about
Celtic would be getting rid of a “good player” if they were to sell Boli Bolingoli during the summer transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the 24-year-old has managed to change his opinion of him after a shaky start to life at Parkhead.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Hoops are looking to cash in on the full-back just a year after he joined the club in a £3million deal.
This decision comes after Football Insider lifted the lid on Neil Lennon’s transfer plans for the summer with a new left-back his number one priority.
Hutton insists that Bolingoli has proven himself a valuable asset to the Bhoys but believes a bloated squad could see him pushed out the exit door.
Hutton told Football Insider: “He started off a little bit slow at the beginning, I wasn’t too sure but then he came onto a real game and he played really well.
“Athletic, strong, getting up and down the pitch – he was looking a real asset. Unfortunately, he got injured and things didn’t really go his way at the back end of the season.
“They’ve got a lot of competition. Celtic have got a lot of strength in depth and whether Neil Lennon’s looking at other options or whether he’s looking to trim the squad, just like all teams do at this time of the year.”
“I do believe he’s a good player but maybe they’re looking to trim the squad a little.”
Bolingoli has played a total of 28 times for the Bhoys since his move to Glasgow, with half of those coming as starts in the Premiership.
However, he has featured just once since the winter break, playing the full 90 minutes against Clyde in the Scottish Cup.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops must prepare to lose one of their top stars in the summer window, claims Brown.
