Exclusive: Crystal Palace respond to Newcastle move for Marc Guehi today

Crystal Palace have told Newcastle United they want at least £50million for Marc Guehi, sources have told Football Insider.

The north-east giants have made contact about signing the England international, who impressed during the 2024 Euros.

Palace have told the Magpies that they want £50million up front for the central defender, to be supplemented by add-ons.

Newcastle are reluctant to match the initial asking price for the 24-year-old, but they are still keen on making a deal happen.

Newcastle are hoping to structure a deal so that they can secure an agreement with Guehi before the window shuts.

The central defender is keen to join Newcastle, which is a boost for the north-east giants in their attempt to secure Guehi.

Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his defensive options this summer as Jamal Lascelles and Sven Botman are out injured until 2025.

Football Insider revealed that Newcastle have been eyeing AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori, but have failed to secure a deal for either so far.

The Magpies have now turned their attention to Guehi, who has impressed during his spell at Crystal Palace and more recently with England.

The former Chelsea graduate has made 111 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles, scoring five goals.
