Exclusive: David Moyes ally shares update on stunning Everton return

David Moyes would be keen to take over at Everton if the club decide to sack Sean Dyche after a slow start to the season.

This is according to former Man United, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who worked closely with Moyes at West Ham, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 61-year-old would be “very much” interested in the role.

Pressure on Sean Dyche has been mounting after a slow start to the season at Goodison Park, having gone five games without a win before the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.

The home crowd have grown impatient with the manager’s tactics after frustrating performances and results including losing from two-goal leads against both Bournemouth and Aston Villa.

Those defeats followed heavy 3-0 and 4-0 losses against Brighton and Tottenham respectively, with Dyche’s usual defensive structure seemingly fading.

Meanwhile, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at home against newly-promoted Southampton, prompting fans to call for the manager’s head.

A win against Crystal Palace is thought to be enough to keep him in the job for the time being, but the questions over his long-term future remain.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that the boss would have lost his job if he suffered defeats against Leicester and Palace, before they took four points from those two games.

David Moyes tipped to take over at Everton after Sean Dyche sack

Brown previously told Football Insider that the boss is set to be backed by the club after earning credit for the way he dealt with the trouble they faced behind the scenes.

However, the former senior scout, who left West Ham alongside Moyes following his dismissal at the end of last season, has insisted that the boss would be willing to step in should the club decide to pull the trigger on Dyche.

I know he lives at St Anne’s [in Liverpool],” he told Football Insider.

So, he’s right on the doorstep if they wanted to call him for something like that.

He would definitely be a suitable candidate for that job.

He knows the club, he’s got a good track record there, he’s as honest as the day is long and he has a good relationship with the fans.

Yeah, he’d be interested in taking that job. Very much so.

West Ham Everton

On top of that, where would Everton go to get somebody better than him?

You’re entering the world of having to pay compensation for somebody, which the club would prefer to avoid in their situation.

You know what Moysey is. There’s no secret there. It’ll be up to the club, but he’ll definitely be on the list.

In other news, Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle could agree “big” commercial deals.
