Exclusive: Hull City’s Dean Holden in pole position to be new manager of European club

Hull City coach Dean Holden has emerged as the number-one choice to replace Radomir Dalovic at Kayserispor, sources have told Football Insider.

The Turkish Super Lig outfit have identified the 46-year-old as their top managerial target and hope to persuade him to make the switch to Turkey.

However, he has since rejected an approach from the Turkish club.

Dalovic was sacked following Kayserispor’s 2-1 defeat to Kocaelispor ten days ago, with the club currently sitting 17th in the table with just two wins after 22 games.

Holden is currently in his position as assistant manager to Sergej Jakirovic at Hull City, having joined in July 2025, but he could be tempted away after less than a year in the job.

Hull City’s Dean Holden could accept Kayserispor role

Hoden’s last full-time managerial role came with Charlton, where he was sacked in August 2023 after one win in the opening six games of the 2023-24 season.

He also has previous experience being in charge at both Bristol City and as the interim Stoke manager following Michael O’Neill’s dismissal in 2022.

Since then, he has continued to build up his experience in coaching roles, having worked as the assistant to Steven Gerrard at Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq.

He has now emerged as the clear candidate to land the Kayserispor job, with the hope that he will be the man to lead them away from a relegation battle.

Supercomputer predicts Championship title race

Holden has enjoyed a successful spell as the assistant manager at Hull, and alongside Jakirovic, is hopeful of a successful season with promotion on the horizon.

The Tigers currently sit fifth in the Championship table, with a six-point gap to Derby in sixth place, with the final playoff position very much up for grabs.

Coventry City and Middlesbrough currently occupy the top two places, with a seven-point buffer between Hull and automatic promotion as things stand.

Meanwhile, a supercomputer has predicted Coventry will win the league after they beat Middlesbrough, making them the firm favourites for the title.

The supercomputer has backed Hull as one of the favourites to finish in a playoff spot with 74.24 per cent, adding to their growing hopes of a successful season.
