Exclusive: Paul Robinson makes bold Rangers claim ahead of Celtic showdown

Paul Robinson claims that the title race in Scotland will be over if Rangers fail to beat Celtic in Sunday’s derby showdown.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England goalkeeper boldly says that the clash at Parkhead is already a “must-win” for the Light Blues if they want to stop their rivals.

Celtic sit five points ahead of Steven Gerrard’s men at the top of the Premiership table, although the Ibrox outfit do have a game in hand over their Glasgow rivals.

However, despite having over half the season left to play in 2020, Robinson says that failure to pick up all three points will end the Gers’ title hopes.

Robinson told Football Insider: “It’s going to be a close game, Celtic have opened up that little bit of a gap. You can’t really predict the Old Firm, it’s at Celtic Park so it’s going to be hard for Rangers.

“I don’t really want to put my head on the line but let’s call it a title decider. It’s a must-win for Rangers. If Rangers don’t win, Celtic have won the title.”

Rangers and Celtic have played each other twice this season, the Hoops coming out on top at both Ibrox and Hampden Park, while there has been a red card in both games – one for either side.

In other Rangers news, Football Insider can reveal that the Light Blues are chasing a West Brom forward who is out of contract next summer.
