Sources: Major update on Rangers interest in Thomas Kristensen as multiple stars set to leave
Rangers are keeping tabs on Aarhus GF defender Thomas Kristensen ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The club are set to have a busy summer as Michael Beale rebuilds his squad and some of the club’s top stars are set to leave amid key talks in the next weeks.
Kristensen, 21, is on the radar of multiple clubs around Europe and is among a number of names that are of interest to Rangers.
However, it is understood the Gers have yet to be in contact over a deal for the rising star despite some reports.
Filip Helander will depart the club when his contract ends this season, John Souttar has had a glut of various injury problems and Leon King could head out on loan next season as Beale has not played him once since being given the role.
That leaves Rangers with Ben Davies and Connor Goldson as definite picks at centre back meaning the club have to find reinforcements in that area.
Kristensen fits the profile that the Gers recruitment team are aiming for – young, promising and available at an affordable fee with potential high re-sale value.
It is likely he could be signed for a six-figure fee, or low seven-figure fee, even though he has a contract running until the summer of 2026.
Despite some reports the club will mainly be targeting English-based talent there is in fact a big effort going into identifying and targeting young European talent.
Director of football, Ross Wilson, has a lot to prove as critics have been vocal over his past transfer dealings. That criticism has grown as rivals Celtic are heading towards a second successive title.
Kristensen is one of many possibilities on the Govan side’s vast list of targets and would be keen to make the step up and that is backed up by those within the game in Denmark.
Its a huge summer for Rangers and more links will grow with relatively unknown talent as Rangers look to find the next Alfredo Morelos or Glen Kamara.
