Exclusive: Rangers set final deadline on new manager appointment
Rangers are working to bring in a manager before the end of the week, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers are still searching for a replacement for Russell Martin, who was sacked by the club following a 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
Steven Gerrard looked all set to take over at Ibrox, but Rangers weren’t able to get the deal over the line with the former Liverpool man pulling out of the race.
Sean Dyche also rejected the chance to take the job, meaning that the club have now been turned down by two different candidates.

Rangers want a new man in the dugout quickly
Sources say that Rangers want to appoint a new manager before this weekend’s game against Dundee United.
The Glasgow giants face Jim Goodwin’s side on Saturday (18 October).
Danny Rohl is now the favourite to take over at Rangers, following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday over the summer.
Kevin Muscat is another name in contention for the job at Ibrox, despite having never managed in Europe.
Muscat had a spell with the Gers as a player back in 2002, and as a manager, he has won league titles in Australia, Japan, and China.
Rangers linked with former West Ham boss
Slaven Bilic has been linked with the manager’s job at Rangers in recent days, and could potentially rival Rohl and Muscat.

The former West Ham boss, who has been out of work since leaving Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Fateh in August 2024, has now emerged as a key contender.
Bilic was an option for West Ham in their attempts to replace Graham Potter, hinting that he was eager to get back into management.
However, he missed out on a surprise return to the London Stadium when they opted to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo, who controversially left Nottingham Forest earlier this season.
