Exclusive: Rotherham make late move to sign Arsenal’s Nathan Butler-Oyedeji

Rotherham United have made a late move to sign Arsenal winger Nathan Butler-Oyedeji on loan, sources have told Football Insider

The League One side are looking to seal a temporary deal for the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes on Monday (3 February).

Butler-Oyedeji impressed in pre-season for Arsenal and made his first-team debut in the 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League last month.

Football Insider revealed on 24 December Swiss club FC Zurich made an approach to sign him, but that move failed to materialise.

Rotherham now want to agree a loan deal for the attacker, who can play on both flanks or as a striker.

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji could join Rotherham after making Arsenal debut

Butler-Oyedeji joined Arsenal at the age of eight and turned professional in 2021 after progressing through the club’s academy.

The London-born ace previously spent time on loan with Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town, where he made a combined 25 appearances.

He has worn the armband for the Gunners’ Under-21 side in Premier League 2 action this term, registering seven goals and six assists in 10 matches.

Arsenal are keen on extending Butler-Oyedeji’s deal at the Emirates, but talks have recently stalled between the two parties.
