
Exclusive: Stockport County agree deal to sign Jack Hunt
Stockport County have agreed to sign former Sheffield Wednesday defender Jack Hunt on a short-term deal until January, sources have told Football Insider.
The 34-year-old, has been a free agent since leaving Bristol Rovers at the end of last season when his side suffered relegation to League Two.
Stockport sit top of League One as things stand and are keen to add experience to their squad, even on a short-term deal, to sure up their side during a packed winter schedule.
Hunt has made over 460 appearances in the EFL during his career, and is prepared to step back into first-team football after keeping fit during his spell out of the game.
A contract until January will give the Hatters time to assess the right-back’s fitness and performance levels before making a further decision on his future.

Hunt had been training with Sheffield Wednesday in recent weeks with a view to joining as a free agent amid their financial turmoil, but is now set for a move elsewhere.
The right-back also had a trial spell with Bradford City during the summer, but nothing materialised, and he now finally looks set for a return to football with Stockport.
He has maintained his fitness despite his spell out of the game, with individual training as well as short spells with the Championship and League One sides.
There is a now hope that he will play a valuable role over the busy Christmas schedule to help Stockport navigate their ongoing push for promotion.

The Hatters are on course for promotion from League One as things stand, and hope Hunt’s prior experience with Wednesday and Huddersfield can help their cause.
Stockport missed out on promotion via the playoffs last season, but are determined to go one step further after what has been a strong start to the season.
They currently sit at the top of the league, level on points with Lincoln City but with one less game played, after winning eight of their opening 15 games.
Dave Challinor is hoping results continue to go their way ahead of clashes with Peterborough and Barnsley which could prove decisive to their promotion push.
