Exclusive: Whelan tips Leeds for £30m goal machine signing after Radrizzani's QSI reveal
Noel Whelan has tipped Leeds United to sign Celtic sensation Odsonne Edouard in a blockbuster £30million deal this summer if they gain promotion to the Premier League.
The ex-Whites forward, speaking exclusively Football Insider, believes big money needs to be spent on a new striker and claimed the 22-year-old would be perfect if Andrea Radrizzani’s hint at major investment from the Qatari Sport Investment group (QSI) comes to fruition.
The Celtic striker has put potential suitors on alert as Edouard prepares to stall on signing a new contract at Parkhead.
The French striker has been in scintillating form this season for The Hoops, scoring 27 goals in 45 appearances.
As revealed by Football Insider, United are in the market for a striker this summer with Liverpool youngster and Swansea loanee Rhian Brewster a target.
However, Whelan wants Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa to splash out on a more experienced striker if they gain promotion.

“You would hope we get new investment and the money from the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.
“Then it is a case of spending money in the right areas and a goalscorer is one you are going to have to part a lot of money with, unfortunately. We need to give ourselves every opportunity.
“We need players that will make a difference. I would be looking at the Celtic striker – Edouard if we are going up. Is he available and if he is, let’s bring him in. For £30million that would be a great buy and I can see it.
“Someone like him or Mitrovic or both! But maybe that is greedy!”
Radrizzani said in an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio last week: “Of course, there is an excellent relationship on a personal level [with QSI chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi], a desire to do something together…
“My desire is to make Leeds a big player in the Premier League and to do so we will need to have new partners… We will evaluate it when we are in that league.”
In other Leeds United news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider club should move for Premier League free agent this summer.
