Expert ‘astonished’ by Jota-Celtic latest – ‘clubs have an eye on him’

Celtic star Jota is being watched by multiple clubs after another impressive display for his side.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the winger’s form.

Jota, 23, scored Celtic’s only goal as his side lost 3-1 to RB Leipzig on Wednesday (5 October).

This was his fifth goal in 11 total games this season but his first in the Champions League.

McLeish was blown away by the winger’s performance and admits his first impressions of the attacker were wrong.

“I was astonished at the deal Celtic did for Jota,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“In the beginning I thought he was a bit fancy, step overs, that kind of thing. Can he set people up, can beat people, can he put in crosses, can he head the ball?

“The answer to every one of those questions is a positive yes. From what I hear, clubs have an eye on him. He had a few more alight chances against Leipzig so he could have had another goal.

“To be honest, I think Celtic were too open. Leipzig were open as well which is why celtic had quite a few chances but take nothing away from Jota.

“He is having a remarkable season.”
