Expert backs Tottenham to end ‘horrendous’ Chelsea record after ‘perfect’ update
Tottenham have been given the perfect chance to end their “horrendous” record at Stamford Bridge.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham travel to Chelsea for their second game in the 2022-23 Premier League season (13 August).

Spurs’ 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge on 1 April 2018 was Spurs’ first win at that venue for 28 years and they have only won one Premier League meeting against Chelsea since.
Wenham claims the change of ownership and overhaul of backroom and playing staff at Chelsea could give Spurs the perfect chance to improve their record at Stamford Bridge.
“I think we will be challenging Chelsea for third place at a minimum this season,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“That is a big game very early on in the season. Hopefully we can catch them off guard and go there and correct our horrendous record at the Bridge.
“Our record there is terrible, two wins in my lifetime. It’s just not good enough. There is lots of change at Chelsea at the moment.
“A lot of backroom staff have gone and a lot of their defenders have gone as well, Lukaku has gone. It could be the perfect opportunity to end that terrible record.
“It might be the perfect fixture at the perfect time to get one over on them and show everyone else how good we are.”

Spurs’ last win over Chelsea came in the League Cup in September 2020.
The Lilywhites won 5-4 on penalties after the game finished 1-1.
