Harry Winks backed to complete Everton move after source's update - pundit

Harry Winks could revive his career under the tutelage of Frank Lampard at Everton.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s future.

An Everton source told Football Insider (19 June) that the club hope to sign Winks from Spurs and have made contact over a potential summer deal.

The Lilywhites value the centre-midfielder at around the £20million mark.

Lampard is keen to bolster his midfielder options following the departures of Fabian Delph and Donny van de Beek.

Kenny is certain that Winks has to move this summer and claims Goodison Park could be an ideal destination.

“When he came through a few years ago you thought wow, unbelievable, he is going to be some player,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“But for some reason, he has dropped off the radar. I think it is important for him to get a move away from Tottenham because I can’t see him playing many games.

“He’s 26 and he needs game time. He isn’t getting it at Tottenham. Go to Everton, it’s a fresh start.

“You’ve got Frank Lampard as manager, could he get the best out of him? We will have to wait and see but he needs to leave Tottenham, that’s for sure.

“£20million would be a lot for a guy who hasn’t played much so I think Spurs will have to lower that.”

Winks has only ever played for Spurs, joining the club’s academy in 2002 and making his senior debut in November 2014.

He has gone on to make 203 appearances for the club but he is now unlikely to make any more.
