Expert issues ‘incredible’ Alexander Isak verdict as Newcastle United footage analysed
Alexander Isak could score the goals to secure Champions League qualification for Newcastle United.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s return.
Isak, 23, made his Premier League return in the second half of Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday (15 January), scoring his side’s last-gasp winner.
It was the striker’s first league appearance since September, though he had featured in the Magpies’ previous two games in the League Cup and FA Cup.
McManus is expecting big things from Isak in the second half of the season.
“Right place at the right time, a real poachers goal,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It looks like a tap-in but then you watch his movement when the ball comes in and he just peels off the defender to get that space.
“He and Wilson must have done a bit of work together because they knew exactly where the other was going to be.
“Three in four for him now, that’s the kind of record you need when you sign for a club for however much he did. It was nearly £70million.
“You need a return for that and when he has played for Newcastle he has looked incredible. So hopefully now he can stay fit and I think he will score a lot of goals before the end of the season and get them into the Champions League.

“It will be interesting to see who starts at the weekend now he and Wilson are both fit.
“Could they both start? We’ll see.”
