Expert: Jan Bednarek is perfect Aston Villa signing after source’s update
Jan Bednarek is just what Aston Villa need after losing Diego Carlos to injury.
That’s according to former Villains boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a possible incoming at Villa Park.
Sources told this site on Sunday (21 August) that Aston Villa have submitted a loan offer for Southampton star Bednarek.

Their move for the Poland international comes after a crushing injury blow to big-money summer signing Diego Carlos – who will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles tendon injury.
The Midlands giants must now go into the market for another central defender before the window shuts on 1 September.
Mcleish insists Bednarek fits the profile Steven Gerrard is looking for.
“Bednarek has a bit of experience so that is what Steven Gerrard is looking for,”
“Premier League experience as well. It’s a good opportunity for Bednarek but certainly, Villa are having to do something because of an injury to a key player.
“You can’t plan for these kinds of things, you just have to get on with it and do the best you can.
“So let’s see if he arrives and if he is the only one.”

Despite Carlos’ injury layoff, Aston Villa have sanctioned the exit of centre-back Kortney Hause – who has joined Watford on a season-long loan.
Bednarek, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2025, was not involved during his side’s 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday (19 August) after starting in the Saints’ previous two Premier League games.
